Hosting AMY VALENTI: Dominance and Deception

Today I'm hosting Amy Valenti, a fellow UK author whose new novel Dominance and Deception is already on my reading list.

Recipe for a Sexy Dom

Ingredients

You will need:

One hot male body, filled out in all the right places

Smart-casual clothing

A detective’s handcuffs, badge and gun

An insightful, intelligent mind

Senses of justice, ethics and loyalty

A streak of fiendish imagination

A taste for inflicting pain

Various toys, restraints and accessories

Step 1

Take hot male body (*ahem*) and dress it in smart-casual clothing. Just for now, ladies, don’t worry!

Step 2

Add the insightful, intelligent mind to the mix, and add the senses of justice, ethics and loyalty. This will result in a sexy guy, hot inside and out.

Step 3

Give your hot guy the detective’s handcuffs, badge and gun. This should create a sexy homicide detective. The temptation to reverse Step 1 may be strong at this stage, but the clothing should stay on now, for maximum effect later on.

Step 4

Give your homicide detective a streak of fiendish imagination, creating a sexy and devious, yet loyal homicide detective, and again resist the temptation to reverse Step 1. I promise you, it will be worth it!

Step 5

Add the taste for inflicting pain to create your sexy Dom. Important: ensure step two is carried out to the fullest before going anywhere near Step 5, or you’ll end up with an armed, sexy, corrupt detective who wants to murder you. This isn’t a great thing to have in your life, no matter how short that life might end up.

Step 6

Garnish with various toys, restraints and accessories of your choice. For example, you may wish to give him some rope, a blindfold, a riding crop or a flogger. I would recommend a menthol hand lotion that feels pretty good when applied to more intimate areas – combine this with the riding crop and the handcuffs from Step 3, and you’ll have created a tasty scene from Dominance and Deception (see below).

Step 7

You may now reverse Step 1 – or, more accurately, let him order you to your knees and play with you a little before he decides it’s time to take off the clothing. Have fun! ;)

Excerpt

“Now I know your fetishes, let’s talk about mine. We’ll explore them over time…but let’s start with this one.”

He took a small tube of something out of his pocket, uncapping it and holding it close enough to my nose that I could smell it.

Menthol.

“Sir…” He hadn’t even used it yet, but my imagination offered up enough predictions to set me squirming. I didn’t know whether I was asking him for it, or pleading for him not to go there.

Pierce set the tube down on the bed, then leaned over to leave a trail of teasing kisses over my abdomen, gradually working his way south.

Supporting himself on one elbow, he lay across the bed, slowly caressing my clit with his tongue.

I bit back a moan of encouragement, but wow—the man had some serious technique. My spread legs trembled, threatening to give out and leave me sitting on my heels—which would not make Pierce happy.

He drew back, sitting up and substituting his fingers for his tongue, watching me writhe and sigh. Then he squeezed a little of the mentholated hand moisturiser onto one fingertip, and I closed my eyes, waiting for the inevitable.

He rubbed it into my skin, starting at the outer edges and moving gradually inwards. For a moment, I didn’t feel anything, then a cool tingle began to creep across the area.

“Please,” I begged, just as he coated my clit with moisturiser. “Sir—

He sat back with a tiny smile…and the menthol kicked in, a cold, mild burn that shocked the breath from my lungs and sent a wave of intense want through me.

“You have permission to come, little tease. If you can.”

As long as my hands were tied, I didn’t have a chance. I gave a quick tug at my bonds, just in case, but it was wishful thinking. And I got the feeling he wouldn’t let me close my legs enough to generate any kind of friction…

“I need your help, Sir.”

Pierce laughed softly. “I know that.”

While I groaned with frustrated resignation, tingling and trembling and completely helpless, he shrugged out of his shirt and returned to my toy chest. Ignoring me.

Bio

Amy Valenti is a tarnished tease, and her mind has lived in the gutter since the day she realised what sex was. She hails from England, which she doesn’t find quite as exotic and sexy as the average US citizen seems to, but if people want to compliment her on her accent, that’s all fine with her! Her muses are many, fickle and very demanding.

She has a degree in creative writing and currently works as a proofreader/copy editor. In her free time, she reads, writes and plays videogames. On the rare occasions she doesn’t have a laptop on her knee, she loves to curl up with friends and pets – and chocolate – for TV show and movie marathons.

Hosting AMANDA J GREENE: Caressed by Moonlight

Today I'm hosting Amanda J. Greene and her vampire romance Caressed by Moonlight. Take it away, Amanda!

***

Today I have the privilege of interviewing Dorian and Victoria Vlakhos, the main characters in Caressed by Moonlight (Rulers of Darkness #1) Dorian and Victoria have agreed to meet with me to answer some questions about their love story before heading off to celebrate their anniversary.

Amanda: Thank you so very much for meeting with me. I know you are very busy and are getting read to celebrate your one hundred and ninety-seventh anniversary. Congratulations.

Victoria: (Glancing over to her husband, her lips turning with a smile) Thank you.

Dorian: (Takes his wife’s hand)

Amanda: Do you have any plans?

Dorian: We are hoping to get away for a few days.

Amanda: Where do you plan on going?

Dorian: A friend of mine owns a hotel and casino in Las Vegas Nevada.

Amanda: Gabriel Erhard, that is his territory, correct?

Dorian: Yes. He moved from London to the States in the early 1800s. He has made name for himself out there. Las Vegas and the State of Nevada is his strong hold, but is only one of many of his holdings.

Victoria: He sailed not long after Dorian and I met.

Amanda: (nods and writes down some notes) So, Dorian, can you explain to me why you left your home and your clan to go to London in 1814?

Dorian: (His jaw clenching, he shifts in his seat) At that time, the Red Order witches were slaughtering my people. I headed to London hoping they would follow me. I wanted to draw them away from my lands and decided the best way was to use myself as bait. They followed. While I was in London, and not chasing after Victoria, I was hunting the hunters. (He gave a light laugh.)

Amanda: Why did you pick London?

Dorian: I wanted to go to a city that was far from my clan, a place off the European continent. Then, like now, London was one of the most populated cities. Having a powerful, hungry vampire amongst so many mortals…well, you can see why the hunters would come after me.

Amanda: (I could sense Dorian did not want to discuss the hunters.) Can you tell me about the night you met?

Dorian: (His features relaxed) I will never forget that night.

Victoria: We met under the moonlight, both looking to escape a stuffy ball and all the gossips.

Dorian: Victoria wore an emerald green dress, the same color as her eyes.

Victoria: (Giggles) Dorian found me quit irresistible.

Dorian: (Laughs) I was not the one who could not remember my name.

Victoria: (playfully hits him on the arm) It did not help that you were trying to seduce me, you rake.

Amanda: Was it love at first site?

Victoria: More like lust at first site?

Dorian: You felt that too? And all this time, you claimed otherwise.

Victoria: (Rolling her eyes) For me, I believe it was love at first site. I tried so hard to fight my feelings. You must understand. Dorian was not…a suitable man for me at the time. I needed to find a husband, not a bedmate.

Amanda: And a vampire…

Victoria: I learned that bit of information after were married. It was quite the shock.

Dorian: Some men stop putting the toilet seat down or start burping and scratching themselves in inappropriate places at inappropriate times after marriage. (He shrugs) I just started letting my fangs down.

Amanda: (laughing) How did you feel when you found out your husband was a vampire?

Victoria: I was an emotional mess. I was terrified, concerned, worried for him, and yet I was drawn to him.

Dorian: She was the one unable to resist then.

Victoria: Need I remind you of what happened that night? You were not the most charming man.

Dorian: (Smiles) My inner beast had gotten the best of me. I had not fed and bloodlust was driving me crazy. I was worried that if I took Victoria’s blood I would kill her. (He lovingly squeezed her hand) I almost did.

Amanda: Is that when you realized she was your mate?

Dorian: I think I knew before but did not want to allow myself to believe it. All the vampire rulers that came before me have been victims of the curse. There was nothing to make me think I would be different, until I met Victoria.

Amanda: This is all very interesting and I would love to ask you more questions but we are out of time and I don’t want to give too much away to the readers. Thank you very much for your time.

Dorian: Thank you for coming.

Victoria: You are welcome here anytime.

Amanda: Thank you again and I hope you have a wonderful anniversary getaway.

Hosting MEREDITH ALLARD: Her Dear and Loving Husband

Today I'm hosting Meredith Allard, whose vampire novel Her Dear and Loving Husband is definitely on my reading list.

Writing and Time

Autumn is always an interesting time of year for me. I am spoiled by the summer months because I can spend my days dreaming and writing. I wake up, make myself coffee and eggs, sit at the computer, and write, often until the sun has gone and I can no longer form a coherent thought.

Then August comes like a bucketful of ice-cold water down my head. It’s such a shock to the system to have to wake up to an alarm again. For the first few weeks I’m tired when I come home after a busy day, and I want to collapse on the sofa, turn on the television, and stare until it’s time for bed to do it all over again the next day. But then, within a week or two, I find my way back into my routine, working by day, writing by night. Though I am always tired when I get home in the afternoon, suddenly one day I remember why I love to write. I love to tell stories. I love the challenge of working with the vast, glorious English language. Most of all, I love sharing the characters who have made themselves known to me in my imagination.

That’s when the concerns of the day melt away and I realize that, though I have already put in my eight hours, I have more time to serve that night. The truth is, I’m simply not happy with myself unless I’m writing. So, day job or no, after dinner and before bed is my time to pursue my first love, writing novels. That’s how I finished Her Dear & Loving Husband, by working on it every day after work. I’m currently working on the second novel in the Loving Husband Trilogy, Her Loving Husband’s Curse, and I feel as if there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. But I’m not worried. I know that I will stay focused and finish the story, and I will be able to share it with readers soon. That is the goal after all: to share what I write with others.

Sarah also has a secret. She is haunted by nightmares about the Salem Witch Trials, and every night she is awakened by visions of hangings, being arrested, and dying in jail. Despite the obstacles of their secrets, James and Sarah fall in love. As James comes to terms with his feelings for Sarah, he must dodge accusations from a reporter desperate to prove that James is not who, or what, he seems to be.
